the pathetic state of cleveland rock radio
Sad. Driving home from Home Depot Sunday morning ... and the two "rock" stations in Cleveland are playing two songs from the Beastie Boy's "Licensed to Ill" album.
Congratulations, WMMS and WXTM, you're on the forefront of suck.
Why can't radio take chances? Why do I have fond memories of radio circa 1989-1995? It must have sucked then, too.
I'm a fan of NPR, but I hate having to wait for the few good college radio shows each week to enjoy the music on the road.
Here's the fan mail these station just got:
"Retards,
When your main competition for young listeners with dicks is playing Beastie Boys, you should tell the computer that plays your songs to NOT play Beastie Boys at that same time.
Especially Beastie Boys that's over 15 years old. It happened again Sunday morning at 10:25 a.m.
Play rock, and or good music. Still waiting to hear Dream Theater's new single."
And yes, my use of the word "retard" is insensitive. Have you listened to the childish junk that passes for banter in between songs on "active rock" or "extreme" radio these days? These champions of thought will appreciate the direct, cutting address.
