The End of Oil : On the Edge of a Perilous New World
Here's my non-review review of a great book I just read ... more fleshed-out thoughts to come soon.
A well researched and easy read that makes many points clear:
Energy security will trump environmental disaster everytime
We must begin "internalizing" the cost of energy so that markets begin to make wise energy choices
A growing China and Indian will increasingly compete with the U.S. for oil
We have until 2030 to get emissions under control if we want to keep CO2 below 550 ppm
Natural Gas might be the bridge to our energy future
We'll need a gradual phase-in of a carbon penalty, not a Kyoto-style immediate reduction
Conservation does not mean putting on a sweater -- and it's essential to ensure civilization gets to 2100.
