wind power in your own backyard
Southwest Windpower sent out a news release about their new residential windmil that, for about $10,000, can make you feel really swell about saving the environment in your own backyard.
Or something like that.
According to data from energy.gov, Ohioans would need to install 23,366,835 of these backyard bad-boys to make up for the 154 million megawatt hours of electricity sold in Ohio in 2004.
That’s a cool $163.5 billion, installed.
Yes, that’s far-fetched.
But I hope the work of ohiowind.org and greenenergyohio.org is not science fiction as they work towards a cleaner Ohio.
And thank you, Southwest Windpower. I thought small wind was a polite fart.
